One of two C&R pistols recently acquired, an interesting German occupation FN Browning 1922.
Pistol also came with holster which is the leather/vinyl type and reserve magazine. Both magazines are marked FN in oval/7.65 mm, one is eagle/WaA marked the other not. Holster bears no acceptance or manufacturer's marks, but is marked inside the flap is marked 'Nur fur lange Browning Pistole Kal. 7.65 mm'.
The use of all three of the WaA marks from the German FN occupation on this pistol makes for a quite unusual item. Not that this makes for some rare variation, at least to me, still the odds of locating such is pretty rare. The Germans appearantly did not use a first in, first out method of handling parts. Parts were manufactured and placed in their respective storage/assembly locations. So when the items were first proofed, they were then put in the bin. Other ones were put on top. etc. Then finally somone got to the bottom of the bins and pulled the pieces to assemble the weapon, and it was realized that it did not have the current inspectors marking, so it was again stamped.
I received this from my father over the weekend and am looking for more information on it.
Here is what he told me:

Here is what he told me:
Designed by Robert Browning and built in Belgium as Colt refused to produce it.
Production ran from 1912 till 1983 and was originally designed for the German Luftwaffe (Airforce) issued to their pilots.
It was then issued to the Military and Police and not available to private citizens
The serial numbers are hard to run down, but this is a pre-war gun made sometime before 1941 and valuable in that respect.
A FN1910/1922 like this one was used to assassinate Arch Duke Ferdinand of Austria and his wife in 1914 precipitating in World War I
I paid $350 for it three years ago
